Synopsis

Prometheus & The Butcher is a fantastic modern reinterpretation of the original Greek myth Prometheus Bound. Set in a 70’s Brooklyn-style butcher shop, Prometheus lies, chained in the basement, punished by Zeus, for stealing fire from man. 30,000 years have passed and Prometheus still dreams of his eventual freedom through a prophecy that decrees his captor shall be slain, and his bonds broken. His captor is the Butcher, a man forced by the will of Zeus, to devour Prometheus’ liver every night to stay alive. As the ultimate odd couple, Prometheus and the Butcher are caught in a tumultuous love/hate cycle awaiting the end of the prophecy. But an unexpected wrinkle changes the plan.

Hercules, the young hero destined to free Prometheus and kill the Butcher is dying. When the Butcher discovers he has the power to save Hercules, he is confronted with a choice: save his own hide and live eternally with Prometheus as his captive, or save Hercules and sacrifice his life to fulfill the prophecy. Prometheus and the Butcher is a story about self-empowerment and sacrifice. Mixing hip-hop, blues, and post-modern humor, Prometheus & The Butcher is in the vein of other exciting films such as Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet, Titus, and Delicatessen.
